As you wander the seemingly endless grounds of the lush Parque María Luisa, it's hard to believe that the park was only half of the duchess María Luisa Fernanda's palace gardens. Lose yourself in the romance of this rambling park with its endless paths, green expanses perfect for picnicking, and tranquil fountains. While you're there, try to find the monument dedicated to the Spanish writer Bécquer, a sculpture commemorating the art of romance which is beautifully integrated right into the park's lush vegetation. For some cultural site-seeing, the Archaeological Museum, the Popular Arts and Customs Museum, and the gorgeous Plaza de España all lie along the park's fringes.
